Long Course Weekend FAQs

Entry

To get the Long Course Weekend medal you will have to complete all three events at their longest distances. However, because the Long Course Weekend is made up of three separate events, you also have the option to enter these individually: The Swim, The Bike and The Run. You can enter as many of these as you wish and at any distance, but remember; to get the Long Course Weekend medal you must register for (and complete!) the Long Course Weekend, not the three separate events.
If you enter the three events separately, you will receive a finisher's medal for each event (3 medals total). If you commit to the Full Long Course Weekend, You will receive not only the finisher's medals for the three separate events, but also the official LCW polo as well as the coveted fourth medal (if you finish all distances within the cut-off). not only this, but you will also get the opportunity to be a part of the awe-inspiring LCW fourth medal ceremony.

Yes. The age restrictions are as follows: Swim 750 and 1500 meters: 14+ years Swim 1900 and 3800 meters: 18+ years Bike 86km and 172km: 18+ years Run 5km: 12+ years Run 10km: 16+ years Half Marathon and Marathon: 18+ years Kids Beach Run: 0-12 years Please not that athletes under 18 years must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian on the day of the event to sign a waiver on-site
The closing date for online registration will be October 22nd. After this date, on site entries will be possible from Thursday 3rd until Sunday 5th.
Yes, but they must show all the documents to accreditate he is doing it in your behalf and bring a copy of your confirmed registration. Remember that if you have registered as Balearic resident this has to be validated at the race number pick up, if not you will have to pay the difference to regular starting fees in cash.
Absolutely everything you need to know about the Long Course Weekend Mallorca will be sent out in our Race Guide document, usually around two weeks before the event. This will include event timings, race details, ... It is important you read this as details may be different to those on the website. We recommend using the online Race Guide as a guide, as an email will be sent to the address you registered with notifying you of final details and possible amendments.
Yes it is, for security reasons and in order to register your time. We use Champion Chip System. You can use your own chip (if you have it), and you will have to input your chip code during the registration process or rent one for race day for 5€ in cash during race number pick-up. You have to give it back at the Finish Line.
These must be collected at the race number pick up area showing photo ID. Please remember, if you do not have an own chip, you have to rent a chip onside during race number pick-up for 5 Euro in cash. Chip will have to be returned at finish line.
On Thursday 2nd a Race Briefing will be done. Time and place TBC.
If you get that during the online registration process allows you to cancel or transfer your entry at any time for any reason up to September 3rd.

For the Swim, you will get 2 tatoos to place one on each shoulder. For the bike section of the course, the number must be worn on the REAR, as well as the bike number being placed on the seatpost, and the sticker upon the helmet. For the run, the number must be worn on the FRONT.
The Champion Chip is a small plastic transponder that has to be fastened on your ankle or shoe (no metal contact!).
Yes, during the 3 days.
Will get trophies: The best 3 men and women of the overall results of Long Course Weekend and the best 3 men and women of the overall results of each discipline (Swim, Bike, Run) and for each distance. All finishers in each discipline and distance will receive a medal. The Long Course Weekend distance participants finishing the 3 disciplines will receive as well the 4th medal.

The Swim

Wetsuit –Unless otherwise notified by the Event Organiser during the Race Briefing on Thursday, swimming wetsuits are mandatory for open water with water temperature under 15,9ºC. Between 15,9ºC and 20ºC it will be optional for distances of 750 and 1500 meters and up to 22ºC for distances of 1900 and 3800 meters. Above these temperatures, the use of wetsuit is prohibited. It is the Participant’s responsibility to provide and use a wetsuit which complies with FETRI rules and regulations. Participants without a wetsuit will not be allowed to compete. Link to FETRI rules
Goggles – goggles are necessary in all open water swims. Polarised goggles are recommended to reduce glare and increase visual acuity. It may be worth bringing a clear-lensed pair if conditions are less than ideal.
Swim hat – the swim hat issued by Long Course Weekend and provided at the race number pick up must be worn. If you wish to wear two swim hats, the issued swim hate MUST be worn on top.
Timing chip – Timing chip must be worn on the OUTSIDE of the wetsuit on the left ankle.
Gloves & Boots CANNOT BE WORN without a doctor’s note. Webbed gloves are not permitted.

Swim course takes place in the Bay of Alcudia, so it´s very safe. Water temperature in November is 20ºC average and between 2-6 meters deep.

Yes. 12:30h Cut-off time to complete the distance of 750 meters. Participants of 1.500 meters who have not completed the first lap at that time, cannot start the second one. 13:00h: Cut-off time to complete the distance of 1.500 meters. 10:10h: Cut-off time to complete the distance of 1.900 meters. Participants of 3.800 meters who have not completed the first lap at that time, cannot start the second one. 11:20h: Cut-off time to complete the distance of 3.800 meters.

The Bike

Race Number must be worn on the rear, Bike number under the seat and sticker on the front of the helmet
Chip hast to be placed in the ankle and no metal contact. Chip has to be returned at finish line.
A Helmet MUST be worn. Approved cycling safety helmets must be worn by competitors. Helmet must be used in all activities when the competitor rides the bike: competition, familiarization and training sessions; (full details of helmet requirements here in the FETRI regulations)
The torso MUST be covered at all times.
Gloves are highly recommended.
Headphones are strictly prohibited.
Yes, no traffic allowed during the race. The security will be controlled by Police and Organization.

At 8:30h for 172km and at 12:15h 86km participants.
3 aid stations each loop. 2 of them with solid and liquid. 1 liquid aid station. To see locations check the bike map.
There is an intermediate cut off for 172km participants at 12:00h at Km86 (end of first loop). Final cut off is at 16h.
It is the Participant’s responsibility to provide and use a bicycle and helmet following the rules and regulations of the FETRI. For safety reasons, only conventional road bikes with brakes on both wheels (disc brakes not permitted) and without tri bars (no crono bikes are allowed).

The Run

Race Number MUST be worn on the FRONT.
The Chip has to be fastened on your ankle or shoe (no metal contact!) and it has to bre returned at the finish line.
Torso MUST be covered at all times.
We highly recommend wearing proper running shoes that have been correctly fitted to avoid discomfort during the run. We also recommend not wearing brand new trainers on race day as they will need to be worn-in to maximise comfort.
Running socks will reduce rub and aid both shock absorption & circulation. They are generally fast drying and odour repellent. We recommend merino wool or polyamide socks.
Yes.The cut-off for the Marathon is at 15:00h. The cut-off for the Half Marathon is at 12:00h.
